Starting to do yoga can have many short and long-term healthy benefits. Of course the healthier we as a population are the less we go to the hospital and therefore the less we'll have to pay for health and other insurance coverage premiums.
Yoga is nothing new but as of late its been garnering some major attention especially people searching for yoga mats, clothing, DVDs and much more. I can
personally attest to the almost instant gratification of doing 30 minutes of yoga. I felt relaxed and ready for the rest of the day and surprisingly sore over the next few days.
More and more employers are bringing in yoga instructors to help relax their employees and also as part of the wellness approach to keeping employees healthier.
Does your employer offer yoga classes at work or some kind of wellness program? If so, are you taking advantage of the program?

Yoga's health benefits are, simply, too numerous to accurately list. One of my fitness gurus, a ridiculously healthy man of 45, states "I can't do excellent things physically because I do a lot of pull-ups... it's because I do yoga." With that in mind, I think that health insurance companies would be wise to tap into this as a resource!
Yoga leads to increased flexibility, which is huge in keeping people healthy (and is one of my own personal challenges). It also makes you sweat and groan like a banshee, so people who pooh-pooh as a workout yoga really don't know what they are talking about!
