Arrests Made Of Non-Licensed Contractors In Angora Lake Tahoe
When there is blood in the water sharks aren’t too far behind.  Within days, maybe even hours of the Angora fire in South Lake Tahoe becoming contained unlicensed contractors were already moving in for some fresh fish.

According to a press release on the California Department of Insurance website:
jail_cell_alcatraz.jpg
“On July 4, the California Department of Insurance's Enforcement Branch partnered with investigators from the El Dorado County District Attorney's Office and the California Contractors State License Board to identify unlicensed public adjusters as well as unlicensed and uninsured contractors.  The operation resulted in five arrests.  The El Dorado County District Attorney's Office is prosecuting the cases.”

Amazingly the five people arrested were co-owners in various construction related companies.  Yet they didn’t have “either a city/county business license or a contractor’s license.”  Did these guys just form these companies or have they been preying upon homeowners for quite some time?

Greed grabbed a hold of them and now they’re sitting pretty in a jail cell for now and maybe into the future.

Crazy story! Thanks Andrew.

Easton,

It truly takes all kinds to make a world. Where would we be without people like the aforementioned? As if victims of the fire didn't suffer enough.

Sure, we can hope that these individuals were suddenly hit with greedy impulses, which eventually would lead them to prey upon their victims... but I doubt very much that was the case. More likely, they have been at it for a while, bilking customers (and, by extension, their insurance companies) over the long haul. We can take heart in the fact that these guys are behind bars, at least!
