One of the plans being offered in Michigan by Blue Cross “costs employers about 10 percent less than a typical Blues plan and offers employees two fee scales: one for those who follow healthy living guidelines and one for those who don't.” Therefore if you aren’t motivated enough by saving on premiums to be healthier you can opt out.
In addition other plans are incorporating gifts such as iPods or reductions in hotel stays by accumulating points from participating in wellness programs. I think this turn of the tide is an excellent direction to go in while our country figures out a way to have a universal health care system.
