The national average for crashes is one every ten years making drivers in Sioux Falls “27 percent less likely to get into a car accident.” Of course understand that these numbers are only based on Allstate claim data, which insures “about 12 percent of the U.S. population.” Despite that large number I’m sure there would be a slight adjustment to the results if all drivers were taken into consideration.
I found it interesting that of the top ten safest cities to drive in Sioux Falls is the only South Dakota city while other states have two cities in the top ten. Colorado has two cities, Fort Collins (2nd) and Colorado Springs (8th) Michigan has Flint (3rd) and Warren (4th) and Tennessee has Knoxville (6th) and Chattanooga (7th). What happened with the rest of South Dakota?
Allstate rewarded some drivers in Sioux Falls and Flint by giving away free gas to motorists. I’m sure all drivers in those two cities were calm while driving to get free gas.

Well, it IS South Dakota. There are probably far fewer cars to run into on the streets of Sioux City than in other major metropolitan areas. We can only hope that this finding by Allstate leads to lower insurance premiums for the good people of Sioux City.
Also, I think that is a great name for a town.
