Short-term Health Insurance Critical For Recent College Graduates
Recent college graduates are full of inspiration, joy and positive thoughts as they march into the “real world.”  The possibilities are endless and the world is their oyster.  However, there is the little matter of health insurance as graduates leave the nest.

According to an article on Tallahassee.com and information from the Commonwealth Fund “38 percent of college graduates go through some uninsured period in their first year after graduation.”  This could be either because they’re too old for their parents policy or didn’t think about getting some insurancegraduation_insurance_needs.jpg between graduation and that first job.  This is of course assuming the first job even offers health insurance.

Short-term health insurance is an option for the uninsured and with a higher deductible the monthly premiums can be manageable.  This entire situation begs the question of how the recent graduates are going to pay for the coverage if they don’t have a job yet.  But I guess that’s something to discuss with their parents.
