According to the New York Sun Obama will be implementing the following changes:
“Mr. Obama's proposal consists mostly of incremental changes in the current system under which most Americans get health insurance through their employer. He would require most employers to offer subsidized insurance or pay a percentage of their payroll to thegovernment. Individuals and families would be eligible, regardless of pre-existing conditions, to buy policies currently offered to federal employees.
Mr. Obama's campaign said his plan would cost between $50 billion and $65 billion a year and would be funded by rolling back President Bush's income tax cuts for wealthy Americans.”
A spokesperson for Edwards commented on the Obama plan by saying “Any plan that does not cover all Americans is simply inadequate.” I couldn’t agree more. I’m especially disappointed in Obama’s plan for the health care system considering that he seems to have a grasp on why the system is broken. It’s not a lack of coverage but the health insurance industry’s control over the entire system!
An especially thoughtful, caring and informative article about Obama’s plan and the direction we should be headed with health care was written by Rose Ann Demoro in the Huffington Post. She mentions the upcoming documentary by Michael Moore, Sicko about the health care system in this country, which I will start to cover more.

Barack Obama's proposal is strong and sufficient. Do we not remember what happened in 1994? We can not just snap our fingers and switch to "socialized medicine" because that is what Edwards and Clinton suggest. You can not expect families that are struggling to put food in the table to be forced to pay for health care. I live in MA and are a low income medical student that can barely pay for rent, tuition, transportation, food, and now try to pay for health care...we can not force people to buy something they can not afford. Let us not forget, "Too many politicians, corporate financial officers and academic economists tend to forget the most basic truth about medical care in America: We have the finest system for treating illnesses and injuries in the world." Socialized medicine would take the competitive edge the U.S. has.
