I can’t really wrap my mind around this despicable situation. How could a mother take the money from her deceased son’s life insurance policy that was intended for her own granddaughter? According to
Nbc5.com “Janie Lee Espinoza is accused of spending $250,000 plus interest in life insurance money intended for her daughter. Espinoza’s son, Roy Buckley, was killed in Iraq in 2003.”
Did she actually “spend” all of the money or are they exaggerating? Not only did she take the money from her own granddaughter but then she went on a spending spree? How exactly was she able to get the money from her granddaughter in

the first place? I suppose it doesn’t truly matter because she found out a way.
Thankfully she pleaded guilty and is sentenced to four years in prison. She also has to pay back all of the money she spent. Although I can’t imagine how and within what time frame that’ll happen.
By stealing her son's insurance policy for his daughter, this shabby excuse for a human being has effectively disrespected his work in the military, as well as the sacrifice of all men and women in uniform. The fact that he left his military policy in his daughter's name leads me to the conclusion that this soldier cared deeply about his child. I daresay that four years in prison is scarcely enough.
