Insurance Technology: Should The Insurance Industry Adopt Wireless Technology?
If you currently work in the insurance industry as an agent, claims adjuster or a field rep then you know the strains and limitations of travel.  I’m shocked more people working out in the field in the insurance industry aren’t already using wireless technology.  However, the reasons behind the lack of wireless adoption by even half of property-casualty insurers are more of access and expense according to a National Underwriter article about wireless tools.

“Celent senior analyst Chad Hersh thinks wireless is still on the cusp.  “The technology actually has been a little slow in getting where it needs to be,” he says.  “The promise of ubiquitous connectivity haswireless_online_tools.jpg not panned out. It’s here, but it took a long time to get here, and it’s still pretty darn expensive.”

Are you currently using a wireless device and has it proven effective?

You raise a good question on what's out there, that is actually working. One organization that I'm watching in that regard is Symbility, http://www.symbilitysolutions.com/

Feedback I received from a Canadian company claims manager, who's employer has the tool in use for it's property adjusters is that the technology is good. A challenge was keeping the pricing (especially labor) estimates current in areas of the country where the economy is on fire.
