Golden State Warriors Topple A Giant!
This post has nothing to do with insurance but I felt compelled to write in light of recent events.  What a series between the Golden State Warriors and the Dallas Mavericks!  Just to let you know that I’m not jumping on the bandwagon I’ve been a fan of the Warriors way back to the Run TMC days.

I remember watching the last playoff game the warriors played in 1994 when Charles Barkley and the Phoenix Suns swept the Warriors in three games.  The Warriors had Chris Mullin, Chris Webber, Latrell Sprewell, Billy Owens and non other than Avery Johnson on a team that was destined for greatness before Webber left the next season.  How strange is it that the last time the Warriors played in a playoff game the current coach of the Mavs Avery Johnson was a teammate?Golden_State_Warriors_Basketball_Stephen_Jackson%20.jpg

I love the Warriors but who would have ever thought that they’d be advancing to the second round after dispensing the #1 seed and winner of 67 regular season games?  The Warriors win 16 of their final 21 games and 9 of their last 10 to slip into the playoffs and then face a team they beat 3 times during the regular season!  Of all the teams in the NBA I’ve got to say that the Warriors are the hottest and most feared by other teams.  Are there any teams out there that are anxious to play the Warriors?  Any takers?

What a brilliant performance by Stephen Jackson.  He hit 7 of 8 three-pointers and put up 33 points to lead the hobbled Warriors.  After Baron Davis pulled his hamstring I was hoping another Warrior would step up his game and fortunately Jackson was the man.  I’m just astonished at the heart of this team and how they refused to wither or be denied.  It’s truly a treat to witness such a historical moment not only in Warriors history but also in the entire history of the NBA.  It also has to be said that Don Nelson is an insufficiently celebrated coach (the second most winning coach in NBA history) but he showed his genius in being able to suppress Nowitski and the vaunted Mavs offense.Warriors_Baron_davis.jpg

The Warriors complete the BIGGEST upset in NBA playoff history by becoming the first 8th seeded team to beat a #1 seed in a 7 game playoff series.  Talking to my Bay Area friend last night we agreed this series felt like a championship series and I’m hard pressed to imagine any way the Warriors could top it in these playoffs.  Second round here we come and we’re hungry for more!

WE BELIEVE!

Jason22,

Sounds great. I just might have to get myself a t-shirt as well. I have a feeling we're going to be seeing a lot more of these t-shirts in the coming weeks.

GO WARRIORS!

Good defense by the Golden State Warriors drama boys, if only we could patch up the difference, this will be a Golden State good season. They are running, switching in defense, rebounding see those efforts. We don't have yet the Warriors team down.

I which I could see some Warriors games live. I was looking for tickets all the good seats on ticketmaster were taken I had to check broker. And man you don’t want to do that especially for the Golden State Warriors. Thanks god there sites like Ticketwood which work as comparators here is the site

» 5 Most Commented Insurance Posts Of 2007 from TheInsurancePolicy
In the year 2007 I posted several hundred times on this blog while covering a wide array of topics.  With the start of the New Year I though I’d take a look back at some of the more popular posts... [Read More]

I'm glad that you branch out of the insurance blogs from time to time! Golden State was a great story (I don't know if you read what Bill Simmons wrote about them on his ESPN column), and the Warriors were able to lead me back to a time when I absolutely loved the NBA. (I grew up with the great Portland Trailblazers teams of yore). Thanks for a great post!
