A young woman with a microphone is on the streets of New York going up to strangers and asking them “Do you have health insurance?” Not surprisingly their answers show that a fair amount of people actually don’t have health coverage. I’d be curious to know how many people she walked up to didn’t want to divulge if they had coverage or not.
I was a bit appalled but not shocked to hear the one guy say we should stop providing health care for illegal immigrants that have been severely injured. I guess we should just leave them wherever they lay to wilt and die instead of saving their life.
However, I would have to agree with the interviewer that health insurance in the U.S. sucks. Someone should actually do a long series of interviews with people on the streets about health care. Go to many U.S. cities and speak with people from different economic standings and cultures and see what they have to say.
Health insurance sucks to varying degrees in the US of A. I have lived at both ends of the health insurance spectrum, and where I currently live -- Maine -- it takes sucking to a whole new level. It has been speculated that the current political leaders of the state are actually >trying Jerry
