$100 Million Louisiana Bill Passes To Improve Property Insurance Market
If you can’t get insurers back into your state by pleading with them then why not offer them some cold hard cash.  Louisiana Governor Kathleen Blanco has been pushing for approval of “$100 million in incentives, which Blanco wants to offer to insurers that agree to come to Louisiana and write policies along the Gulf Coast” according to the Insurance Journal.

Insurers can fight for “grants of up to $10 million.”  I’m not quite sure what thestack_of_cash.jpg money can be used for but I’m sure the insurers can figure something out.  It will be interesting to see if this new pile of money will be a big enough enticement for insurers to enter the Louisiana market again.

Politicians should be more creative than going the financial water hole each time.

Gary,

It certainly would be cool if politicians could talk insurers into coming back to Louisiana. Unfortunately insurers are looking at their bottom lines instead of thinking about the well being of homeowners. Thanks for the comment.
