An even scarier statistic from the survey shows the unfortunate trend of small businesses dropping their health coverage at an alarming rate. In 1995 67% of small businesses offered health benefits while in 2000 only 51% and in 2007 41%. If this trend continues in 12 years less than 20% of small businesses will offer health benefits.
While the rising cost of health care is one issue the growing number of uninsured individuals and families is another. If many small and mid-sized businesses get behind the push for universal health care in the United States we are all going to be better off in the long run.
As was mentioned in an earlier post about Universal Health Coverage there is a growing movement from not just a few politicians but also many powerful business partners. Some of the largest businesses in the U.S. are standing behind the idea of implementing a universal health coverage plan because they see the cost of having to pay for coverage of their employees.
If you run a small to mid-sized business let us know your perspective about the cost of health coverage and if you support the idea and possible implementation of universal health coverage.

After many years of managing large organizations in the corporate world I started my own small business five years ago. I have struggled to offer a solid health care plan for my employees. We have had steady growth over the years, but not the cost of health care has grown even faster. Do you know of any states that offer a subsidized small business health care plan like Arkansas?
