Poipu Beach Kauai Hawaii Vacation: Should I Buy Trip Cancellation Insurance? Part 3

Here we are with the final installation of our trip cancellation insurance series and I’ve left the best part for last.  Some of us consider this type of insurance a waste of money while others are happy to pay the premium for that little slice of peace of mind.  Regardless of what side of the issue you are on I’m sure you’d like to know the cost of such a policy and what companies offer this coverage.

The exact price will of course vary depending on the company, amount of coverage and whether the coverage is primary or secondary but there is a general price of $5 to $7 per $100 of coverage according to this website.  If you have $10,000 of coverage you’ll pay form $500 to $700 for a policy.  Do you think that is too expensive?  It depends on your financial situation but if you spent around $10,000 on a trip and had to cancel it I’m sure you wouldn’t mind paying that premium amount knowing you would get back what you lost on the trip.

If you had a positive or negative experience with any of these or other trip cancellation insurance companies then please leave a comment.

As a final note on this topic my trip to Kauai and Poipu beach was amazing.  The beaches were mesmerizing and more than worth the 5 hour flight.  I hope you enjoyed the pictures and if you plan on going to Kauai consider staying at the Sheraton.
