
If you have an American Express card “Travel Accident Insurance* provides up to $100,000 in accidental death and dismemberment insurance while traveling on a Common Carrier Conveyance (plane, train, ship, helicopter, or bus) when the entire fare has been charged to the Card.” As an added benefit American Express provides a “Baggage Insurance Plan” that provides “up to $1,250 for carry-on baggage and $500 for checked baggage.”
In addition if you have a Visa Gold card or other type of Visa you should be covered with travel accident insurance and possibly trip cancellation insurance. Check with your credit card company to verify the details.
While some of the aforementioned insurance plans are not specifically trip cancellation insurance they do provide money in case of accidents or death while on a trip, which are some of the main reasons for canceling a vacation or trip.
