South Carolina Smoking Ban Close To Approval
I live in a state that prohibits smoking inside restaurants and take that luxury for granted, although I think everyone that doesn’t smoke shouldn’t be forced to inhale smoke if they want to go eat out.  The city of Greenville and Beaufort County South Carolina are inching toward bars and restaurants becoming smoke free according to insurancejournal.com.

Initial approval was given to proposed smoking bans in public places by council members in both governments.  These votes of approval are coming a week after Columbia City Council also “gave initial approval of a workplace smoking ban.”

If the Greenville ordinance passes smoking would be prohibited “in restaurants, bars and private clubs and extend 10 feet from entrances. Smokers could be fined $50 for lighting up, while businesses that allow them to do so could be fined $100 for the first offense and $200 for each one after.”

Going to Argentina earlier this year I was amazed at the sheer number of people that puff away and have little regard for non-smokers.  Do you think one day in the not too distant future all states in the U.S. will have banned smoking in restaurants and bars?
