Wal-Mart Stores Inc. Expands Flat-Rate Generic Prescription Program
An article in nationalunderwriter.com reports that Wal-Mart Stores Inc. (WMT) will start “offering $4 prescriptions for generic drugs throughout Florida starting Friday.”

The program was tested in Tampa Bay, Fla. With 36,000 $4 prescriptions filled since the program began on Sept. 21.  In addition Wal-Mart is “increasing the number of drugs covered to 314 from 300, and the list will include cholesterol-reduction drug Lovastatin and the cancer drug Megestrol.”

Not surprisingly “The $4 drug list accounts for about 30% of prescriptions dispensed through Wal-Mart pharmacies and pharmacies at sister retail chains in Florida.”  I imagine that this program will be extended to all of their stores eventually.  Who wouldn’t go want a prescription filled for $4?

Does anyone have any objections or thoughts on this inexpensive generic prescription drug program at Wal-Mart?
