Good news for Medicare Part D beneficiaries from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) in regards to monthly premiums. CMS premiums will stay at the same level come the next open enrollment period according to nationalunderwriter.com.
The next enrollment period for Medicare Part D will be Nov. 15 of 2007. CMS expects premiums to stay at the current $24 a month average amount. CMS also announced “the average number of drugs included on a plan formulary, or covered drug list, will increase about 13%, and almost all carriers that were in the Part D market this year will be returning in 2007.” In addition CMS estimates, “Monthly prescription drug costs for Medicare beneficiaries in Medicare Advantage managed care plans and administered fee-for-service plans will be about $6 lower in 2007 than they were this year.”
