MDRT Raises $575,000 For Hurricane Katrina Relief Efforts
The Million Dollar Round Table Foundation, an affiliate of the Million Dollar Round Table (MDRT), “has raised a total of $575,000 for Hurricane Katrina relief efforts in Alabama, Florida, Louisiana and Mississippi” according to nationalunderwriter.com.

The foundation was able to gather the contributions from 600 individuals and organizations.  The contributions ranged from as little as $5 to $50,000.  The MDRT Foundation gave a $50,000 match and the MDRT also contributed $50,000.

The money was given out to the following organizations:

$300,000 to Habitat for Humanity International, Americus, Ga.; $100,000 to the American Red Cross, Washington; and $175,000 to the Salvation Army.

Another foundation, affiliated with New York Life Insurance Company, New York, gave a 3-year, $225,000 grant to Groundwork Inc., New York.  The grant money will be used “to expand an after-school program for middle school students.”
