Home Inspection Review & Home Inventory Software
An article in orlandosentinel.com by Humberto Cruz touches upon a little known service provided by some homeowners insurance companies.  Contact your insurer to see if they offer a free inspection service for your house in order to keep you premiums at a lower level.

The inspector will check the roof, foundation, gutters, driveway and around the outside of the house for rotting wood, peeling paint, cracks, water stains, mildew or mold.  If the inspector does find some problems with your home you will have time to remedy the problems so your premium will not increase.

Cruz also mentions the importance of making a list of the contents of your home and updating that list as you get rid of or add new items to your home.  I wrote about this important step in a previous post but Cruz mentions a software program available from Quicken called the Quicken Home Inventory Manager.

A software program can help to better organize your inventory list and possibly simplify the process.  If you are aware of other software programs or services available to inventory your household items then let us know.
