Laura tells a common yet difficult story of not only having to deal with the loss of her father but also feeling the financial crush in the aftermath. She was and is a college student and because her father did not have life insurance she had to find ways to pay for the day-to-day bills and her education.
Life insurance is a critical part of every family’s financial plan. The cost of basic term life insurance is so small these days that most families can afford it even within the tightest of budgets. Hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of term life insurance can be purchased for $10 to $20 a month. Of course you should consult with a trusted insurance agent or financial advisor to decide the correct amount and type of coverage for you and your family.
I hope the story Laura tells will spur someone to buy life insurance so they don’t have to go through a similar experience.

This is a great post, and painful reminder that we sometimes have to learn lessons the hard way. For me, I recently saw one of my neighbors pass away leaving no life insurance for his family or business. Perhaps this is a small thing we can do to let them know we still care, beyond the grave.
