Virginia Residents Inundate Insurance Agents With Calls After Flooding
Following a heavy rainstorm in Virginia local insurance agents were receiving numerous calls from homeowners according to thetimesonline.com.  Many homeowners basements and foundations were overwhelmed by the rain.

According to a local State Farm agent, Jim Miskovich, “This is as bad as I’ve seen in 22 years.  This is the most widespread flooding I’ve seen.  It’s all over the county now.”  Miskovich explained, “The most common insurance for water damage in basements is water and sewer backup coverage, which is an endorsement that has to be purchased as an add-on to the standard policy.”

For those people that have federally backed flood insurance they might be receiving compensation from that policy “if the person lives in a flood zone and the nearby waterway crests its banks.”

Claims can be sped up significantly if the insurance adjuster can see all the damaged property in a quick and easy manner.  Of course having your things previously inventoried with pictures will help considerably.
