Travel Insurance Buying Habits
The U.S. Travel Insurance Association (UStia) recently released a survey of the demographics for travel insurance purchasers in a news release on their website.  The survey was conducted online in late 2005 of “850 people who had taken at least one leisure trip of one night or more in the last 12 months.”

Complexity or an increase in factors out of the travelers control had an impact on the likelihood of purchasing travel insurance.  A few aspects of travel insurance buyers can consist of the following:

- Traveling with a group of people.
- Taking longer trips.
- Going on more expensive trips.

Another interesting result of the survey showed “purchasers of travel insurance are more likely to have a destination or activity as part of their trip rather than visiting friends and relatives.”  The survey revealed also that “77 percent of people using a travel agent to book their vacation bought travel insurance.”

Do you buy travel insurance when you go on certain trips or vacations?
