State Farm & Casualty Co. Pulls Back 2,500 Feet From Mississippi Coastline
State Farm & Casualty Co. made an announcement this week that they are no longer offering new property insurance policies within 2.500 feet of the coastline in some areas of Mississippi’s Harrison, Hancock and Jackson counties as reported on insurancejournal.com.

The new policy will take effect this upcoming Monday and only applies to new business not existing policyholders.

State Farm has 30 percent of property insurance policies statewide in Mississippi.  Obviously this new policy will only affect those close to the coast.  In addition State Farm said, “they will no longer offer other standard coverage, such as fire and theft, in some areas along the coast.”

If you are looking for insurance and you live within 2,500 feet of the Mississippi coast check with an independent agent.  They should be able to locate a company that is still offering coverage.
