N.J. Hybrid Owners Get More Perks
If you live in New Jersey you might already be familiar with Governor Jon S. Corzine “announcing last spring that the New Jersey Turnpike Authority will allow hybrid vehicles to travel in the Turnpike’s High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) lanes” according to insurancejournal.com

Adding to the benefits of owning a hybrid in New Jersey is the news that Travelers of New Jersey has begun offering a 10 percent discount on auto insurance.  Traveleers became the first auto insurance company “to offer a discount to hybrid drivers on a national level and has been rolling out the discount state by state.”   You can also visit www.hybridtravelers.com for information about purchasing Travelers insurance for oyur huybrid and general information.

The HOV change was announced following “the introduction this year of a federal tax credit for the purchase of ‘advanced vehicle technologies’ of between $250 and $3,400.”

Seems in the very near future there will be a shift toward more new hybrid car models and eventually toward the majority of cars being hybrids.

I like the concept of additional perks (and insurance breaks?) on hybrid vehicles, and hope that this will lead to similar benefits being available to all vehicles with low emissions and high mpg standards. It will help to change the industry and hopefully the world for the better!
