Louisiana Attorney General Unveils “Zero Tolerance” Program
Louisiana Attorney General Charles C. Foti Jr. along with federal and state officials introduced the United States Department of Justice “Zero Tolerance” program.  The Zero Tolerance program deals directly with the Road Home program.  The Road Home program is to help Louisiana residents affected by Hurricane Katrina and Rita to apply for up to$150,000 for uncompensated damages to get back into their homes.”  I wrote a previous post about the Road Home program.

In a news release the Zero Tolerance program is explained:

The “Zero Tolerance” program is a collaborative effort among federal and state officials that allows citizens to report fraud, waste, abuse and mismanagement of funds regarding the Road Home program.  The Road Home program is the largest single housing recovery program in the history of the United States.  Applications for the program are currently being received, but regrettably there are those who may seek to defraud the hurricane-ravaged victims of Louisiana who are trying to rebuild or repair their homes.  Examples of dishonest practices include unscrupulous contractors defrauding homeowners or dishonest homeowners filing false claims for assistance.

It is unfortunate that this type of program even has to exist but the sad reality is there are people who will stoop so low as to scam Katrina victims.  In their mind one victim is the same as another I suppose.

If you suspect abuse of the Road Home program please use one of the following numbers to report the abuse:
