La. Insurance Commissioner Candidate Robbed Outside Hotel
If you plan on running for Insurance Commissioner in Louisiana you might be better off with a bodyguard.  A candidate running for Insurance Commissioner, Louisiana State Sen. James David Cain was robbed last week outside a Monroe hotel according to insurancejournal.com.

Cain was not injured but had his wallet and some other items stolen.  Cain has been campaigning throughout the state and had just checked into a hotel after 11:00pm.  While outside to retrieve his luggage form his car “someone attacked him from behind and grabbed his wallet” and “his pants were either torn or cut during the incident.”

According to Cain he chased the suspect briefly but then promptly called the police.  Remarkably with the help of a police dog a suspect was found not more than a mile away and then identified by Cain in a lineup.  The accused, “Robert Sampson, 29, was booked with robbery, resisting by flight and possession of cocaine.”

It appears Cain was very lucky that he was not injured considering the robber came up from behind.  I suppose you could say he will have truly earned his position if he ends up winning the election.
