Cover Tennessee Provides Affordable Health Care To Employees Of Small Businesses
A different yet effective approach to helping employees obtain health insurance through their employer has been launched in Tennessee.  In an article on www.wate.com the “Cover Tennessee” will provide affordable healthcare for un-insured Tennesseans.”

Cover Tennessee is a recent health care initiative signed into law that would cost $150 a month for coverage split between the state, the employer and the employee.  The premium would be broken up in the following way:

The state will pay $50, employers have the option of paying $50, and the employee picks up what's left, $50 if the employer is splitting the cost or $100 if not.

An added benefit is if you switch jobs you can take the insurance with you to the new job.  The downside is the coverage is not full coverage but only for those that have no health insurance.  The coverage gives you $25 co-pay for doctor visits, $10 co-pay for prescriptions and $100 co-pay for emergency room visits.

Eligibility requirements entail a company having “25 or fewer full time employees and half of those employees must earn less that $41,000 a year.”  This seems to be a decent option for small businesses that currently don’t offer insurance.

Visit www.covertn.gov for more information about the program and how to pre-qualify.
