Senate Passes Massachusetts Teen Driving Bill
The insurancejournal.com reported the Massachusetts Senate passed a bill requiring teens to log more hours in behind-the-wheel training before they could obtain their drivers’ license.  The bill also prohibits drivers under the age of 18 from using their cell phones while driving.

The new bill doubles the amount of hours required behind the wheel “during drivers’ education programs from six hours to twelve and also increases the number of supervised hours a new driver must spend with a parent or other experienced driver from 12 hours to 40 hours.”

I can’t imagine this bill will make many teens stop using their cell phones while driving.  I believe adults are the ones to worry about most when it comes to driving while on the cell phone.  Requiring teens to drive 40 hours with a parent or “experienced driver” seems to be a preventative measure.  Teens are going to drive however they feel like but at least we can try and improve their driving skills as much as possible.
