Ruiz has been on leave for several weeks due to “allegations he solicited charitable donations from a company that faced fines from regulators.” The assumption has been made Ruiz was dismissed by PRC Chief of Staff Daniel Mayfield. “The insurance department operates under the PRC.”
Ron Morgan is the lawyer representing Ruiz and on late Friday he had not “received any notification from PRC officials concerning Ruiz.” In addition to Morgans confusion PRC Commissioner Lynda Lovejoy “expressed concern about Mayfield’s action and said the reasons for it were not made clear to commissioners. There was no clear disciplinary plan, no written citations for violations and no opportunity was given for this person to be heard before the commission during a closed session”
This whole situation seems a very odd one with people not communicating properly and everyone involved not knowing what is officially happening.
