Minnesota Dep. Of Commerce Plans Outreach To Warn Consumers Of Insurance Crimes
Consumers in Minnesota are not on the up and up about insurance crimes in their state.  The Minnesota Department of Commerce “have been posting enforcement actions against insurance agencies and companies, real estate agents, mortgage originators and security brokers at a rate of about three a day” according to insurancejournal.com

That constant flow of information is apparently not reaching consumers.  A recent “$3 million insurance fraud scheme victimizing people in farm towns near Rochester” is proof.  The sad thing is the man perpetrating the scheme is an Austin businessman who had his insurance license revoked years earlier but his customers did not know that fact.

The Commerce Department will be running a “major outreach to warn consumers when insurance agents in their area run afoul of the law” including “the Internet, in community newspapers and a monthly bulletin for the media and industries it serves.”

Insurance crimes are detrimental to peoples hard earned and saved money as well as their future retirement incomes.  Keeping consumers abreast of how to be more careful in their dealings with agents is critical in slowing down the amount of insurance schemes.
