The Road Home program has a website at www.road2LA.org you can visit for extensive information about the application process, tools and resources, Hurricane Katrina and Rita facts and figures and job opportunities.
The registration of 100,000 homeowners to the program has apparently “far surpassed earlier estimates of registrants in Phase One.” If you are registered you can visit the website or call 1-888-ROAD-2-LA (1-888-762-3252). If you pre-registered you will be receiving information in the mail.
Starting the week of August 21st, The Road Home will open ten Housing Assistance Centers throughout the state. These centers will provide “trained counselors to help qualified homeowners receive financial assistance and help get them back to their homes as quickly and fairly as possible.”
A very important piece of information for homeowners is that they “do not need to pay to apply to the program and representatives will never ask for their credit card information.” I encourage all homeowners affected by Hurricane Katrina and Rita to register to this program and pass along this vital information to others you know.
