Kentucky ICARE Program Ready For Implementation
The Insurance Coverage Affordability and Relief to small Employers program (ICARE) of Kentucky is ready for implementation according to Kentucky insurance and health officials.  On the Kentucky Office of Insurance website there is an ICARE program implementation presentation outlining the unfurling of this program.

ICARE is set up to help small businesses with 2 to 25 employees that have not had coverage within the past 12 months and employers of individuals with high-cost conditions.  The budget for ICARE is $20 million over a two-year period.  An estimated 4,000 businesses could benefit along with 20,000 employees.

The program will provide immediate fixed, monthly, per employee Health Care Incentive payment to eligible employers” of $40 per employee/per month to previously uninsured and $60 per employee/per month to individuals with high-cost condition.  The employer must pay at least 50% of the individual employee’s premium.

This could be a great incentive to employers with no coverage.  It is sad in this country that so many employers can’t or don’t offer health coverage.
