An interesting yet not too surprising result found “78 percent of those surveyed had a family member that needed nursing home or home health care service yet 39 percent felt that the biggest risk associated with their purchase was that they might never use their benefit.”
Who wants to believe one day they might not be able to take care of themselves and need the assistance of a nurse or live in an assisted living facility? Many people will never purchase LTC insurance for that reason alone. Facts, figures and logic will do little to persuade a person with that outlook.
However, like the survey results indicate “Clients often bring their family members into the decision-making process because the decision to purchase – or not to purchase – long-term care insurance really does affect the entire family.” The thought of burdening a family member financially and possibly needing constant attention is enough to propel some to purchase LTC insurance.
If you are considering purchasing LTC insurance what are some of the reasons holding you back?
