Allstate Not Leaving Louisiana
Louisiana Commissioner of Insurance Jim Donelon and Governor Kathleen Blanco met with Allstate President Thomas J. Wilson earlier this week according to insurancejournal.com.  They discussed "Louisiana’s homeowners market and Allstate’s presence in Louisiana."

Although Allstate said it will continue operating in Louisiana there is a snag about wind and hail coverage in certain Louisiana parishes.  Allstate is looking to “discontinue offering such coverage in some parishes, a move that would affect about 30,000 citizens of the state.”  If Allstate does stop offering wind and hail coverage they will be acting against state law according to Donelon.

Donelon made it clear to Allstate “that we will vigorously resist any effort to cancel the wind and hail portions of homeowner's policies in violation of state law.”
