Two Large Insurer Foundations Give Grants To Non-Profit Groups
Hearing that large insurers are giving large sums of money to non-profit groups is always a sweet sound.  Several foundations of the large insurers, Blue Cross, Blue Shield and New York Life are the most recent donors.  You can find the articles here and here from nationalunderwriter.com.

The Blue Foundation, affiliated with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Florida, gave around $608,000 to 11 nonprofit health care groups.  The recipients were chosen based on their ability to “reach state residents who normally have little access to health care.”  The Healthy Start Coalition of Jefferson, Madison and Taylor counties in Greenville, Fla.  received the largest grant, for $99,930.

The New York Life Foundation, an affiliate of New York Life Insurance Company, has awarded 6 groups in Westchester, N.Y. $119,300.  The largest amount, for $25,000, will go to the Child Care Council of Westchester, helping to partially pay for a summer literacy program for low-income children.
