Independent Agents Group Lending Hand In New Orleans Rebuilding Effort
The Independent Insurance Agents and Brokers of America (IABA) will be in New Orleans this September for a leadership conference and board meeting.  Three hundred of the attendees will be working with Habitat for Humanity to help rebuild the hurricane damaged city according to nationalunderwriter.com.

I have never heard of a bunch of insurance agents doing physical work but under these circumstances would anyone not participate?  According to the president of IABA, William G. Stiglitz, “When I asked our membership if they’d like to volunteer their time in New Orleans to participate in this community rebuilding project, the response was unanimously positive.”

In addition to providing their bodies for the rebuilding efforts IABA also established a nonprofit foundation called “The Katrina Relief Fund” that has already raised close to “$500,000 from more than 530 contributors and awarded grants to help individuals and businesses devastated by Hurricane Katrina.”

This is incredible news to learn.   That so many people are willing to lend a hand to help the victims of Hurricane Katrina.  If you have any other similar stories of companies or organizations helping those affected by Hurricane Katrina then let us know.
