Heavy Rains Close New Jersey Dep. Of Banking & Insurance For 3rd Day
In Trenton New Jersey the New Jersey Department of Banking and Insurance was closed for the third consecutive day due to heavy rain in and around Trenton according to nationalunderwriter.com

The only people being asked to work are designated “essential personnel” and field personnel to report to their scheduled fieldwork assignments.  The unexpected lengthening of the 4th of July weekend has kept employees away from work since Wednesday.

According to the National Weather Service Advanced Hydrologic Prediction Service, the Delaware River, which cuts through Trenton, was more than 5 feet over its flood stage Thursday.  Due to these rains New Jersey Governor Jon Corzine signed an executive order proclaiming a state of emergency in New Jersey.

The powers of the executive order include “giving the state emergency management director the authority to order evacuations and designate shelters as well as authorize officials to mobilize units of the New Jersey National Guard to help with flood relief efforts.”
