Health Initiative Applies Behavioral Approach To Heart Disease
In a press release on the ValueOptions website they announced the “launch of an integrated cardiovascular/behavioral health initiative for its corporate customers titled ‘Heart and Mind Connections,’ the new training guide provides information, support and tools for applying a behavioral approach to preventing and managing heart disease, the number one killer of Americans and a leading cause of disability.” 

ValueOptions develops and implements managed behavioral health and Employee Assistance Program services for Fortune 500 companies according to their website. 


Because the connection between heart disease and mental health is clear “the intervention program focuses on paying specific attention to the links between emotion, behavior, coping strategies and cardiovascular health.”


For many people heart disease is a preventable disease allowing “lifestyle changes and medications that can effectively control the progression of this disease.”
