Connecticut Gov. Advises Motorists On Way To Thwart Thieves
Connecticut Governor M. Jodi Rell is letting motorists know new motor vehicle registration stickers are being sent out that will be placed inside the windshield rather than on the rear license plate according to a press release.  This change is an attempt to thwart thieves who often target the stickers and sell them.

Thefts of this kind have become fairly frequent in Connecticut with almost 26,000 plates reported stolen in the last three years.  Criminals have a hard time removing the sticker alone from the license plate so the end up cutting off the corner of the plate with the sticker still attached.

Now the thieves are going to have to remove an entire windshield to steal the new generation of stickers.  But alas the new stickers will “partially destruct upon removal to prevent fraudulent use.”
