In addition “the amount Washington State Department of Labor and Industries pays for a permanent partial disability (PPD) will increase by 3.52% for workplace injuries based on the change in the price index form one year to the next.”
The annual benefit increases are based on the “average annual wage of all workers in Washington calculated by the Employment Security Department. In 2005 the average wage was $40,385, which will result in “the new maximum monthly benefit of $4,038.50 or 120% of the state’s average monthly wage.”
This increase “applies to both State Fund and self-insured employers. Labor and Industries manages the State Fund, which insures about 2.3 million workers for 168,000 employers. Another 830,000 workers are employed by companies that self-insure.”
