95% Of Florida Hurricane Claims Settled
In the past two years due to the inordinate amount of hurricanes ravaging Florida coastlines 2.7 million claims were filed.  The insurancejournal.com reported that 95% of those 2.7 million claims have been settled according to Florida’s Chief financial Officer Tom Gallagher

Gallagher set-up a free mediation program in the wake of the 2004 storms in order “to provide a dispute-resolution process for homeowners who need help resolving hurricane claims to avoid more costly options, such as going to court.”  The program also utilized “court-certified mediators to facilitate the hearings.”

An amazing 17,000 plus Floridians have requested a mediation hearing resulting in over 15,000 closed cases.  Of those closed cases the settlement rate is 91 percent.

Have you gone through this mediation process?
Was the process smooth or at least less of a hassle or headache than you anticipated?
