Weekly Insurance Scammers Exposed: 5th Installment
This week has some disturbing and ridiculous scams ranging from Murder to your basic fraud.  One woman claiming she was making millions of dollars as an incredibly successful gambler while she was just diverting insurance checks into her personal account.   That she actually got away with it for three years is amazing to me.

  • $1.8 million fraud - A medical office clerk who claimed on federal tax forms to be a professional gambler embezzled $1.8 million from a doctor to fund a lavish lifestyle, authorities said. From 2002 to 2005, the accused deposited into her personal bank account checks issued by health insurance companies to the doctor's office where she worked, authorities said.
  • Murder For Insurance Money - Myron Britt is accused of killing his wife, Nancy Melton Britt, in August 2003 for $800,0000 in insurance.  The prosecution says that Britt made the round trip from Cary to Lumberton on the night of Aug. 22, 2003, or the early morning Aug. 23, 2003, to shoot his wife.  Nancy Britt's body was found about 3:30 a.m. Aug. 23, 2003, at the Lumberton home of her sister.
  • Medicaid Scam - Three people have been sentenced in what prosecutors called a Medicaid fraud ring that used forged prescriptions.
