
The amazing part is these six people did not actually steal a large sum of money considering the amount of individuals involved. I would think if one were going to risk years of their freedom they would go for a lot more than $84,000. Any sum of money is not worth facing a prison term and ruining your future.
- Slip and Fall Insurance Fraud - The grand jury found that the defendants individually or collectively developed specialties in staging accidents at laundromats, restaurants, tavern parking lots, businesses and other commercial establishments. In all, phony claims worth more than $84,000 were paid-out as reimbursements for medical expenses and faked pain and suffering. All of the suspects pleaded guilty to the charges.
- Insurance Fraud - Insurance Commissioner John Garamendi announced today that the California Department of Insurance (CDI) Fraud Division conducted an arrest warrant sweep which resulted in the arrests of eight suspects in Tulare, Fresno and San Luis Obispo counties. The cases involve fraudulent claims made against both automobile and homeowners’/renters’ insurance policies.
- Federal Health Care Fraud – The defendant was found guilty on all 34 counts of a federal indictment accusing him of making more than $1.5 million by overcharging insurance providers for medically unnecessary back braces he provided to elderly and low-income residents.
