New York & New Jersey Politicians Threaten To Sue WTC Insurers For Payment Failure
A battle is brewing between the World Trade Center (WTC) insurers and the governors of New York and New Jersey and the mayor of New York City.  Nationalunderwriter.com reported threats directed towards the WTC insurers were made by the politicians if the insurers fail to make payments to develop the WTC site.

New York Gov. George Pataki said in a statement, “Our patience is wearing thin.  The stakes are far too high.”  The three have already “asked the Port Authority and Silverstein Properties to start legal action within the next several days if the insurance companies continue to be unresponsive.’”

The original leaseholder of the WTC Larry Silverstein has already transferred the rights to build the main Freedom Tower to the Port Authority but insurers are suggesting they could use this as a pretext for withholding payments, Mayor Bloomberg said on his radio show.

The insurers need to pay up if they are legally obligated to do so, which of course they are.  This is not a time to falter on a technicality, right or wrong.

What are your feelings on this heated subject?
