New Hampshire Bike Week Proving Deadly
A few feet make a big difference when riding a motorcycle in New Hampshire this past week.  The 83rd annual Laconia Bike Week started off on the wrong foot with a deadly accident involving 7 motorcyclists and a Jeep Cherokee according to insurancejournal.com.  A motorcyclist drifted over the divider line and ran into the oncoming Cherokee in the other lane.

Motorcyclists drifting over the center yellow line “contributed to six of the nine deaths over the past week and a number of other serious accidents.”

During Bike Week in 2005 there were three motorcycle deaths, 2004 there were nine and in 2003 there were five.  These consistently high numbers can be partially attributed to “the growing popularity of motorcycles, the number of older riders and the fact that few take motorcycle safety courses.”

Each year this Bike Week has from 5 to 9 motorcycle deaths.  You can count on that each and every year!  Is it just me or is that a little crazy and something needs to be done?  Insurance or not these motorcyclists need to improve their driving skills for their sakes and others around them.
