Low Cost Auto Insurance For Eligible Drivers In California
Effective June 1 low-income good drivers who live in the following counties of California are now eligible for the California Low Cost Automobile Insurance Program; Contra Costa, Imperial, Kern, Sacramento, San Joaquin, San Mateo, Santa Clara, and Stanislaus counties.  This announcement was made by California Insurance Commissioner John Garamendi on www.insurance.ca.gov

These reduced rates are less than $400 annually for the state-required liability insurance.  Over 3 million drivers are uninsured in California according to Garamendi.  This fact obviously fueled the need for a reduction in auto insurance for lower-income good drivers.  A “good driver” definition is as follows - no more than one at-fault property damage only accident, or one point for a moving violation in the past three years; and no at-fault accident involving bodily injury or death in the past three years; and no felony or misdemeanor conviction for a violation of the Vehicle Code.

To qualify as a low-income driver family income cannot exceed 250% of the federal poverty level $24,500 for a single person, $33,000 for two persons and $50,000 for a family of four.  The value of an insured vehicle must not exceed $20,000.

This is a more affordable plan for those that qualify and helps protect everyone on the road.  To learn more about the program please call 1-866-602-8861.
