Know The Rules Of The Road? GMAC Driver Test Exposes Lack Of Knowledge
GMAC Insurance released the results of their second annual GMAC Insurance National Drivers Test with allegations of a lack of basic driving knowledge among Americans.  One in eleven drivers, or almost 18 million people, would fail a state drivers test according to the results of the test.  The test consists of 20 questions gathered from a current DMV test administered though out the country.

The average score per state varied from 75% in Rhode Island to 91% in Oregon.  Maybe because it rains so much in Oregon they are more cognizant of the rules of the road.  Regardless the average score of all states is more than is needed to pass a DMV test.

I encourage you to read the press release about the findings and also take the test and see how you fare.  I just took the test and only scored 65%, which I find interesting considering I recently participated in an online traffic school.  I passed the required test for traffic school but barely missed the GMAC test.  I must have been rushing too much at least that is my story.

In my driving history I have only been in one accident where I hit another car and it was my fault.  The accident was a minor fender bender with no injuries.  I hope most of the people who failed or barely passed the GMAC test were just bad test takers or were in a rush and not truly awful drivers.

Let us know how you fared on the test and how it compares to your driving history.
