Claims Payments In Mississippi Highest In History

Mississippi set a record with more than $5 million worth of payment from 3,600 plus claims according to insurancejournal.com.  These claims were paid out between Jan 1 and April 30 of this year and constitue the largest property and casualty lines claims payment settlements and premium refunds. 

This jump in claims payments from last year totaled a 1,721% increase.  The previous record was $4 million across all lines of insurance. 

Although not mentioned in the article I am sure this has to do with Hurricane Katrina and Rita.  This record should stand for a long time.  It is good to hear so many families are receiving insurance money to start over.
