Boating Safety Act Signed Into Law In Oklahoma
The Governor of Oklahoma Brad Henry signed legislation for improving boating safety requirements to protect young Oklahomans according to a press release.  Oklahoma becomes the 44th state to require boating safety education for teens and children.  I am shocked all states do not have these important requirements.

Governor Henry stated, ““The majority of boating fatalities involve operators who have not had proper training,” the Governor said. “These commonsense measures will help ensure that our young people are prepared to safely operate boats and save lives on Oklahoma’s lakes.”

This bill, the Kyle Williams Boating Safety Education Act, is named after a 12-year-old boy Kyle Williams who died in a jet-ski accident almost two years ago.  The bill “establishes new requirements for children under 16 to operate certain types of watercraft.”

I don’t know about you but unless my child was raised on a lake I do not want them operating any watercraft.
