“If your card offers it, you are automatically covered while traveling on what is called a "common carrier conveyance," such as a commercial flight, boat, train or bus, as long as you paid for your ticket with the credit card that offers the coverage.”
This coverage is part of your credit card package and unless you read through the small type legalese of your contract this could be a shocker. This type of coverage was introduced in the "mid-80’s as incentives" for consumers. It has become a mainstay of all the major credit card companies and only recently went through some changes according to the bankrate.com article. These changes included a general decrease in coverage due to study results indicating “consumers did not perceive AD&D as a particularly valuable benefit.”
The chances your family will ever have to collect on this coverage is slim thankfully. However, knowing you are covered by this credit card bundled insurance could give you some extra peace of mind.
